The final specs and pricing details of AMD’s 2nd Generation Ryzen Threadripper processors have been revealed. According to the report, AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series will be having total four processors and two of them will be available. There will be a workstation and gamer-oriented model of Ryzen Threadripper 2000 processor.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 Series Specifications and Prices Revealed – 2990WX With 32 Cores For $1799 US, 2970WX WIth 24 Cores For $1299 US, 2950X With 16 Cores For $899 US and 2920X With 12 Cores For $649 US
The Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series processor lineup features total four new HEDT processors. These will include flagship Ryzen Threadripper 2990X, 2970X, 2950X and 2920X. These ‘WX’ models are aimed at content creators and developers while ‘X’ series processors are aimed at gaming enthusiasts. WX processors would have creator mode enabled by default while X processors would have gaming mode enabled by default. It will be available so that user can configure modes based on their preferences. Following are specs and prices of each Threadripper CPU:
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX 32 Core $1799 US
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX will have 32-cores and 64-threads and it crosses Intel’s Halo product that is going to support 28-cores and 56-threads. This chip will feature 3.0GHz and max clock speed of 4.0GHz. The precision boost overdrive is rated at +200 MHz so you can expect up to 4.20 GHz in single core optimized workloads.
It will have 16MB of L2 and 64MB of L3 cache that’s total 80 MB of available cache on single chip. The TDP of the chip is stated to be 250W and TR4 socketed boards will be compatible will 2nd generation of Threadripper.
The results will be seen, However, through initial comparison, Ryzen Threadripper 2990X with offers a better 12nm processor with 14 extra cores and 28 more threads compared to Core i9 paying $200 less.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX 24 Core $1299 US
Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX features 24 cores and 48 threads at the price of $1299 US. Intel’s 12 core chip costs $1200 US this chip features 3.0 GHz base clock speed and 4.0 GHz boost. We will be looking at 64 MB of L3 cache and 12 MB of L2 cache which totals 76 MB total cache size in 2970WX Threadripper.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X 16 Core For $899 US
The Ryzen Threadripper 2950X will have same cores as its predecessors 1950X and that are 16 cores and 32 threads. The performance will be enhanced by new Zen+ cores to provide higher clock speeds of 3.5 GHz base and 4.4 GHz boost with 180W TDP. This chip also comes at $100 US less price tag.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2920X 12 Core For $649 US
Threadripper 2920X will have cores count as its predecessor so we will be looking at 12 Cores and 24 threads. The performance will be enhanced with Zen+ cores to provide higher clock speed of 3.5 GHz and 4.3 GHz boost with 180W TDP. It will be $100 cheaper than its predecessor Threadripper 1920X.
