Android P is the ninth version of the Android Operating System. It was first announced by Google on March 7,2018, and the developer preview was released on the same day.

Android P Beta is now available for many devices.

Other Android version have feature which shows windows “app not responding” if your application hangs or freezes. Instead Android P will automatically crash the app.

Last week at Google I/O 2018 conference, Google unveil the new behavior in a developer session.

The platform-holder also detailed the reason for the change.

Reto Meier explained I/O attendees:

Now, in Android P, this “App not responding” is no longer a problem, we won’t be able to see ANR dialog but just crash the app.

This is a better outcome for the developers so, they will make sure that they are taking care of particular problem, but this not good for users.

The change is that now users are unable to wait it out for application to respond. Of course, this is something that we are not expecting, when app freezes we lose our all work progress.

On Reddit, this decision is referred to stupid. but there will an option in developer options by which you will just check the “Always show crash dialog” setting.

However, this decision is to motivate developers to ensure that their apps error free. Making apps compatible with all hardware configurations is a serious challenge for developers.

This clearly shows that the move doesn’t benefit Android users, but it is only putting pressure on developers.
