Apple updates iMac Pro options with 2x Performance Improvement

Apple has updated its iMac lineup by updating the 21.5-inch model and 27-inch variant. For everyone who is looking for over performance under the hood, you are going to get it. The design of these machines has remained similar compared to predecessors and performance improvements will enhance the user experience of creative professionals and programmers.

Apple’s 27-Inch iMac Now Feature Intel’s 9th-Generation Processors, While the Smaller 21.5-Inch iMac Feature 8th-Generation Chips

If you want to get best of possible performance out of a new lineup of iMacs, you should get larger 27-inch 5K iMac variants. The new Intel’s 9th-Gen CPUs which can be configured to eight cores. Apple also claims that new chips can deliver 2.4 times greater performance. The 21.5-inch 4K iMac product can be configured with up to 6-core 8th-generation chip. The company is claiming 60 percent improved performance and boost compared to the previous iteration.

Apple has also made upgrades in GPU department, the Radeon Pro Vega graphics options available with new iMac lineup. The new Vega 20 for the 21.5-inch model and Vega 48 for 27-inch will provide improved graphics in new iMac variants. Apple states that customers will experience 80% faster graphics performance compared to last years iMac lineup.

If you have not already noticed, new machines introduced by Apple will need you to pay $5000 upfront to get hands on it. Furthermore, Apple has added faster 2666MHz DDR4 memory into a new lineup of iMac, the base model of the 21.5-inch variant will have 8GB of DDR4 memory along with 1TB of HDD.

Connectivity Options

There is not much changed in the device in terms of I/O of new variants of iMac. You get same two Thunderbolt 3 ports, four USB 3.0 ports, SD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack along with Gigabit Ethernet port. It is disappointing to know that Apple did not outfit a T-series in any new machines.

Pricing, Colors, and Availability

The new 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac models are available on Apple’s official website and Apple Store app. These models are expected to arrive in official stores in a week from now. Moreover, as far as pricing is concerned, 21.5-inch iMac starts at $1299, while the larger 27-inch model starts at $1799.
