PugetSystems recently leaked benchmark results that confirm Asus’s plans to launch an updated ROG Scar 16 gaming laptop. This new version will come with Intel’s upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh Core i9-14900HX mobile CPU. Although detailed chip specs are still unknown, industry experts believe the 14900HX will mimic Intel’s desktop Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs.
ROG Scar 16 Specifications
The leak confirms that Intel remains committed to introducing its 14th Gen refreshed architecture in the mobile market. Instead of making a direct transition from the 13th Gen Raptor Lake mobile chips to the upcoming Meteor Lake, Intel is taking this step.
If the mobile CPU lineup follows Intel’s desktop philosophy, we can expect the i9-14900HX to provide a slight increase in clock speeds when compared to the i9-13900HX. This speed boost will apply to the P cores, E cores, and the base and boost clocks for each core type.
Consequently, the i9-14900HX has the potential to achieve clock speeds of up to 5.6GHz, which puts it on par with its predecessor, the flagship i9-13980HX.

Lenovo to Launch Legion 9 with i9-14900HX
Lenovo is preparing to introduce a refreshed series of Legion 9 laptops, including Intel’s Raptor Lake Refresh mobile chips, specifically the i9-14900HX.
Notably, Lenovo has also been seen featuring lower-end Legion 7 and Legion 5 gaming laptops, which are equipped with Raptor Lake Refresh processors like the Core i7-14700HX and i7-14650HX.
Intel strategically expands its 14th Gen CPU lineup into the laptop market, even as Meteor Lake approaches. Although Meteor Lake emphasizes power efficiency and features, it’s likely to surpass the performance of the 13th Gen Raptor Lake.
Intel is introducing the Raptor Lake Refresh to the mid-range and high-end gaming laptop market, where CPU performance matters most. This aligns with their strategy to meet the needs of gamers while positioning Meteor Lake for mainstream consumer laptops.
