Careem has tackled a good number of its captains, who were accused of being involved in dodging the company using the paths that are prohibited or not allowed in the company’s rule book.
According to the reports. few captains used to book rides on their own to meet daily targets and finally qualify for rewards that company offer to its captain after reaching daily, weekly and monthly goals.
All of these captains have been involved in manipulating the company’s system by travelling to abandoned locations, where there is no possibility of another Captain to be booked by a customer and then book the rides from their other smartphone by themselves, through this, captains are able to get the same ride over and over again.
But the captains do this rarely, because if they do this every time then they can’t be able to make a lot of money from bogus rides, they do bogus rides when they need few rides to reach daily mission.
Captains also book bogus rides, when they are at far place from their home then they used to book bogus rides to go back to their home.
In this case, the captains used to travel back without any passenger with them but the ride would count towards their targets.
Careem’s fraud detection system called it as Sherlock, which is very quick to identify these bogus rides and has fired 374 captains who were found in manipulating the company’s system.
However, Before recruiting, the company warns all of its captains about consequences if being found in fraudulent activities.
The company also blocked the id’s of 50 captains, now these captains will not be able to work with the company anymore.

Careem believes in fair play and just rewards for our Captains. There is no tolerance for fraudulent practices which people use to try and deceive us. Fraud is a crime and they are only harming themselves as Careem’s systems are very good at picking up suspicious activities. Its unfortunate that people resort to unfair means to make a bit of money, they only end up spoiling it for themselves as Careem can block them permanently and penalize them.
