Till today, Native access to Google on Chrome OS device means to enjoy access on various Google-made hardware including the Pixelbook or Pixel state.

Apparently, the company has started testing Chrome OS 72 and has already introduced Chrome OS 72 beta version.

This new release introduces Assistant to third-party Chromebook for the first time. It works in a similar way as like in slate, having the support of both voice and written commands via pop up at the bottom.

This beta version is also providing Android 9 Pie to hardware exceeding features of the Pixel Slate. As expected, the company has skipped Android Oreo entirely on Chrome OS. Now, you can install Gboard from the Play Store if you want Gboard for typing.

You might saw this beta version ideal for security cause if you are more security conscious as it is providing support for authentication devices that depend on Bluetooth Low Energy. Therefore, you might not require any USB port support for a hardware-based sign in.

Chrome OS 72 should be officially available in a stable version later in January, almost 7 weeks after the release of Chrome 71. So, it is expected that these features will be available at the start of next year.
