Every day we wake up and hear another leak or rumor about the iPhone 8 and it keeps getting crazier.

A new report from Verifier claims that the iPhone 8 will be coming with “Smart Connector” similar to the three-pin connector on iPad Pro which will be used for interfacing between AR or VR headset.

The site didn’t provide any mockups or proofs (yet) they also claimed that this year Apple is working on group FaceTime calls for iOS 11.

In its new report, the site claims the iPhone 8 might include a Smart Connector for wireless charging and for charging AR and VR headsets. It could also possibly be used to connect to other accessories.

Apple has not really worked much on Smart Connector on iPad Pro since its launch last year, only official Apple accessory that makes use of the connector is Apple’s smart keyboard.

It was also reported last year that the Apple is working on the smart connector for iPhone 7, but ultimately they decided to scrap the idea and it is very possible that iPhone 8 could resurrect the connector.

A MagSafe (Magnet Safe) connector for charging of an AR or VR headset wouldn’t be totally farfetched. If you look into the new Samsung Gear VR you will notice that it has USB-C pass through port for extended power and charging because the headset connects to Galaxy phones with micro USB or USB-C port. A magnetic charging cable will help users easily attach and detach charging cable

The iPhone 8 is rumored to be the biggest redesign of the iPhone since its release a decade ago. It is expected to have new glass and stainless steel body with an edge to edge OLED display along with a home button which is embedded underneath the screen and the aforementioned wireless charging.
