Facebook has copied another Snapchat’s augmented reality feature Snappables to its Messenger video chat.

Messenger’s augmented reality feature enables users to play AR game with their friends during a video call.

This feature is now available for all the users and to avail this new feature, Users need to update the version, start a new video call then tap the star button on the screen and select one of the AR games. The person on the other side will get a notification that you have started and after that, both users can start to play.

Initially, Facebook has launched two AR games  ‘Don’t Smile’ (compete with each other to see who can hold a serious face) and ‘Asteroid Attack’(navigate their spaceship) and these games can be played by up to six people simultaneously.

Messenger product Manager Nora Micheva said:

Messenger video chat helps you connect in real-time with the people you care about most in a funny and more competitive way. We hope this new experience will help you create fun memories.

Facebook planning to add more games in the future, and working on ‘Beach Ball’, a game where users can pass a beach ball. Moreover, the company is also working on a matching cat game.
