Google said in a report:

“Sorry, it looks like we must have dialed the wrong number! But don’t worry, this wasn’t a prank call. We’re working on some updates to Google Voice right now. We have you on speed dial and we’ll be sure to share what we’ve been up to just as soon as we can.”

Google cannot provide word on what the updates may enter. But the updates are focused on the combination of Google’s messaging apps Allo and Duo, and newly changes to the hangouts API.

We have no idea what the google will do for new google Voice. This could be just a redesign of the website, or it could be true. Or maybe it will go to the dodo and join other Google services.
