A folk of the hackers claimed that they are having login details of most of the Apple accounts and they threatened the Cupertino-based organization to make as a median for clearing iPhones and iPads.
According to the reports, the hackers named them as “Turkish Crime Family” and they have obliged to pay them $75,000 in bitcoins or $100,000 in iTunes gift card., If their demand is not fulfilled they clear all of the devices using iCloud.
For instance, the hacker group has published some of the accounts, 54 accounts had been identified by a technology website named as ZDNet. However, the hackers still did not share the total number of accounts being compromised.
The company responded and said that the accounts were not breached, these so-called breached accounts are obtained from an unknown source.
The company said:
There have not been any breaches in any of Apple’s systems including iCloud and Apple ID. The alleged list of email addresses and passwords appears to have been obtained from previously compromised third-party services.
We’re actively monitoring to prevent unauthorized access to user accounts and are working with law enforcement to identify the criminals involved. To protect against these type of attacks, we always recommend that users always use strong passwords, not use those same passwords across sites and turn on two-factor authentication.
As you all know that the hackers prefer shared passwords as one of the easiest ways to gain access to the most valuable accounts, which are having same shared passwords.
Previously, the hackers have targeted the users directly by “Find My Phone” service, which locks the user’s phone and unlocks when the user pays them.
Presently, the users should take this serious and change the passwords and activate the two-factor authentication, so that if the hackers obtain their passwords then they can’t be able to harm the users’ account. It is also necessary to backup iPhone data, such as photos/contacts/messages/music to PC or Mac. IOTransfer is one of the best iPhone transfer tools that is easier-to-use than iTunes.
