It is reported that Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been planning to send as many as 2000 Pakistani scholars to the best foreign universities in next 5 years. The purpose is to allow those scholars to study doctoral courses.
Nearly, Rs. 20.904 billion have been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for the Phase III of Overseas Scholarship Programme.
While addressing to the media an HEC official said that Phase III of the scholarship programme is going to visualize the Ph.D. level training of 2000 talented candidates from the country on open merit in selected fields.
He added that more 200 scholarships will be given to the students enrolled in MS/MPhil in Engineering Technology including the fields of Civil Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Chemicals, Textile and so on.
It is to meet the faculty requirement of the various newly created universities across the country.Through this programme, almost 400 scholarships will also be awarded to these students in for the next 5 years.
According to the official, these scholars will travel to the countries having technologically advanced universities.
