HEC and PTCL join hands for provision of EVO to students under PM’s laptop scheme

An agreement signing ceremony held at HEC Secretariat between HEC (Higher Education Commision) and PTCL (Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited), for providing EVO wireless internet service to the talented students under PM’s Laptop scheme.

Director General, IT HEC (Mr. Anwar Amjad) and Executive Vice President, Corporate Sales, PTCL (Mr. Muhammad Basharat Qureshi) signed the agreement. CEO and President, PTCL and Chairman HEC were also present there.

HEC and PTCL agreed to establish a collaborative relationship, to provide white labbeled EVO Wireless Internet Devices to the student designated by Higher Education Commission with special monthly packages, terms and conditions will be applicable.

PTCL either offer free EVO devices with special packages or old packages with 20% discount.

There are total 100,000 devices which HEC will purchase, and make payment as per agreement. EVO devices to be deliver in the form batches in three months, however some of them will be distributed by PTCL to the all eligible universities and institutes.

Higher Education Commission will issue these connections to all eligible students. Device will be activated within 72 hours after the request is submitted for activation by student. PTCL mentioned that they will block any device found for reselling purpose.

Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed thanked PTCL management for taking keen interest to work with the Higher Education Commission. He appreciated the proposal of President PTCL for establishing Smart Universities and vowed to work with PTCL for making it happen.
