Huawei Tops China’s Smartphone Market, Xiaomi Steadily Increases

A report appears online has revealed that Huawei topped the list of local manufacturers with the highest number of shipments in 2017. The manufacturer is said to have shipped 150 million phones, and the target is set to 200 million.

Xiaomi is also reported to ship 90 million devices in 2017. There is a massive increase due to the success of Redmi series in India and entry of company into new markets. Xiaomi is expecting to increase its sales to 120 to 150 million units in 2018.

Xiaomi is celebrating its 8th year anniversary tomorrow, April 6. A company-wide memo written by founder and CEO, Lei Jun, praised the members of staff and fans for the company’s achievement so far.

Oppo and Vivo and are holding third and fourth spot respectively, and they are planning to launch affordable phones with AI features in developing markets.

Taiwanese media, e-Times, refers to all four companies as Huami OV. It goes on to say that all four have not only come up with aggressive development plans for 2018 but also have a similar goal which is to maintain their lead in the domestic market and even succeed in foreign ones.
