Huawei Y9 2018 is a mid-range smartphone from Chinese smartphone manufacturer – Huawei. This mid-range smartphone has four camera setup, dual cameras at back and front along with Facelock, fingerprint sensor thin design, and long-lasting battery. The design of Huawei Y9 2018 looks premium and fits perfectly in hand. This phone is released on 3rd May and available in Market at the time of writing this article. I’ve been using this smartphone from last week and will be sharing my personal experience of Huawei Y9 2018 in this Huawei Y9 2018 hands-on review article.
Huawei Y9 Design
Talking about design this phone is made up of aluminum alloy body and front glass display. Its edges are well rounded and feel pretty comfortable in hand. The volume and power buttons are placed on right side of the smartphone while on the left there is SIM Jack and you can have two SIMs and one memory card at the same time in Y9. There is fingerprint sensor in top-mid of Huawei Y9 below dual-camera setup at the top-left corner with LED flash; there is Huawei branding at the bottom of the smartphone.
I like the way screen is placed except providing extra space to bezels on top and bottom of the display. Speaking of what I didn’t like about the design/build material used in the back side of the phone whenever I hold this phone in hand the prints of hands and fingers are left and I had to clean it again to capture images of the phone.
Speaking of dimensions and technical aspects of design this phone has 157.2mm length 75.3mm width and 7.89mm thickness. It is available in three colors Blue, Black and Gold and it weighs 170g. It has 5.93-inches LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080×2160 pixels of resolution and 407 Pixel Per Inch density along with 77% screen to body ratio.
Huawei Y9 Camera
This rear dual camera setup consists of 13MP primary and 2MP sub-snapper. It has dual flash on board that helps to capture images even in low light condition. However, the performance in low light is not that well but in this price range its good to have such details of pictures in low light. It has a f/2.2 aperture. The selfies are taken by dual camera setup which has 16MP and 2MP sensors with no LED flash on front. The features of the camera include HDR, Panorama, autofocus, Bokeh effect, geo-tagging etc.
Huawei Y9 Performance
The HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset with Octa-Core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU serves the major operations of Huawei Y9 2018. The 64-bit architecture clocks at 2.36GHz. It has ARM Mali-T830 MP2 GPU along with 3GB of RAM which helps to do multiple tasks concurrently. Honestly, for daily usage, the performance of the phone is 7 on the scale of 10. However, I will be using this device for few more days, and the Benchmarks are yet to be conducted that’s why I can’t conclude the performance of Huawei Y9 2018 right now.
Huawei Y9 Battery
This phone has 4,000 mAh battery and this It why I’m in love with this phone the battery remains longer than my expectation, and for a daily user of Galaxy S7, Huawei Y9 battery timing is pretty amazing. I didn’t have to charge this phone for two days in my routine usage of the phone which includes Emails, YouTube, Browsing and Little Bit Chatting and Voice Calls. I’ve not tested any games except the one which is preinstalled in Y9 so I will not be commenting on that too. Overall the battery is more than satisfying in this price range.
