Well, today Intel has focused on desktop processors for the most part of its event. However, they took the opportunity to launch its Xeon W-3175X for a workstation. Intel Xeon W-3175X is designed and developed for professionals. It has 28-cores and 56 threads and comes with a base frequency of 3.1 GHz with the boost of 4.3GHz.
Intel Xeon W-3175X is a Beast for Workstations Supports 512 GB of Memory
Intel Xeon W-3175X support 44 on CPU and 24 on chipset total 68 PCIe 3.0 lanes. It features 6-channel DDR4 support that allows users to configure systems with up to 512 GB of 2666 MHz memory. The TDP of the processor is 255W, and it is based on Intel’s Skylake-X architecture.
Xeon W-3175X uses LGA 3647 also known as Socket P to make it compatible with new motherboards. Asus and Gigabyte has already confirmed the are going to launch products for this processor.
While the event was going on Intel’s representative asked in-charge of Tangent Studios. The company which created “Next Gen” film for Netflix. That person shared that new processor accelerated Blender rendering task with the use of Intel Embree. Intel Embree is a collection of high-performance ray tracing kernels that are used within the combination of these process. Tangent Studios managed to get a 15% reduction on rendering time on the frames that typically reaches 4 hours.
Intel also confirmed that these processors would be in the market by December. The MSRP of Intel Xeon W-3175X is not yet known. However, It would be amazing to compare it against new Threadripper 2920WX and 2920X processors of AMD.
