KPITB opens its first innovation lab to bring the digital transformation

KPK Information Technology Board (KPITB) has officially launched Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s first-ever government innovation lab in Peshawar.

KPITB on Twitter shared images of the formal opening ceremony of government innovation lab under ‘Durshal’ project, it means a gateway in Pashto. Durshal’s vision is to bring digital transformation in the province through focusing on emerging startups, digital governance, and participation of peoples in Information Technology Sector. This innovation lab will increase overall economy of KPK, and it will be open soon to public and startups.

The project is aimed to focus on 2 core pillars of KPK’s digital policy that are digital governance and digital economy. Durshal is going to help the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to develop tech skills and providing access to training and resources. This initiative will also offer them physical spaces outside the university where they can collaborate and research innovative projects. A key goal is to ensure equal opportunity for women towards the digital revolution of the province.

Shahram Khan Tarakai, Senior Minister for Health and IT along with other respectable members were present on occasion; he expressed his optimism towards this new initiative of KPITB:

“KP IT Board’s Durshal initiative is the much-needed step towards ensuring the province’s digital transformation. The provincial government is continuously pursuing its vision by investing in the youth of the province which will trigger the economic growth of the province. I am really excited for this project as it would not only contribute to the Digital Economy but also provide a better solution in terms of Digital Governance.”

Projects like Durshal’s provide a healthy and innovative environment for students, startups to build up their career.
