Moto Z2 Play Android Oreo (8.0) Update Starts Rolling Out in India and Brazil

Moto Z2 Play Units are receiving Android Oreo 8.0 Software update; the phone was launched in India last year. Latest software for the Z2 Play is rolling out via OTA (over-the-air) update. Many owners of Moto Z2 Play already install the most recent Android Operating System, and they are tweeting about it.

The latest Android Oreo update is not only available in India for Moto Z2 Play but also rolling out in Brazil. The overall size of the update is 1190MB, and it is featuring April 1, 2019 security patch.

Twitter users from India shared a screenshot of the changelogs of Android 8.0 Update for Z2 Play. However, the changelog does not have all the changes and improvements mentioned:

The latest Android 8.0 update includes new Settings and Notification Panel UI, Adaptive icons, Autofill, Picture in Picture, Notification timeout and many other Android Oreo features.

The stable build is rolling our with build name OPS27.76-12-25 for Moto Z2 Play. The instructions are quite generic for this update like others; battery should be at least 50% charges and its better to connect to WiFi to save your network data (its not mandatory though).

Since it is an Over-The-Air update of firmware, it is rolling out in batches. You can check if you Z2 Play has received the update by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Updates.

Speaking about the specifications of the phone; Moto Z2 Play has Super AMOLED Display with a 5.5-inch display that has 1080×1920 pixels resolution. It features 2.2GHz Snapdragon 626 (an octa-core processor) along with 4GB’s of RAM. It has 12MP (f1.7 aperture) camera on the rear with dual-LED flash and dual auto-focus lens. Then, there is a 5MP selfie camera with F/2.2 aperture and a wide-angle lens. It has 64GBs of built-in storage that is expandable through microSD card and 3,000mAh battery. The connectivity support includes Bluetooth 4.2, USB-Type-C, 3.55mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/b/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz), NFC, FM Radio, GPS/A-GPS and 4G VoLTE. The sensors in the phone are an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
