Nokia 8 is a flagship device with major components and features that are a match of Samsung’s flagship devices. The price of Nokia 8 is Rs. 59,000 in Pakistan but you can get it as low as Rs. 46,000 (find the latest price of Nokia 8 here ) and it is in direct competition with devices like OnePlus 5T. Nokia 8 is a great comeback of the Nokia as HMD Global in Android smartphone industry.

Nokia 8 Review
Nokia 8 is good, but when it comes to design, there is a room for a lot of improvements especially the bezels. It is powered by Snapdragon 835 with Octa-Core processor that makes it a compelling phone regarding processing and it got impressive points in benchmark tests. Its 13 MP dual Carl Zeiss rear camera helps to capture stunning photos. There’s also a 13 MP selfie shooter which works excellent even under low light. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage that is expandable with a MicroSD card that replaced the second SIM if you are willing to extend its storage capacity.

Nokia 8 – Design and Display
The design of Nokia 8 is one of the major factors; it is one of the most impressive design when it comes to Nokia’s devices. When comparing it to devices of vendors like Samsung and OnePlus I felt the design could be improved.
The aluminum unibody design with metal edges feels excellent to hold especially when the back is metal too. The Steel and tempered blue colors are available to choose from, and both have a matte finish, and they are too shiny. In fact, when I was recording video review, I had a problem with Nokia 8’s glassy finish.
We have tempered blue variant which is eye-catching with all three options. The body of the phone is thin as 7.9mm at its thickest point. The edges are curved if the screen is not, so it sits comfortably fits in hands. Nokia 8 has 5.3-inch QHD 2K resolution display, and it may fit in smaller hands, and its LCD panel has 700 nits of brightness.
Nokia 8 don’t have water or dust proofing level similar to the flagship devices we have these days, but still, the IP54 rating is enough to ensure that Nokia 8 is offering dust resistance.
Nokia 8 – Performance
You can’t doubt Nokia 8’s performance it comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset and Octa-core (4×2.45 GHz Kryo & 4×1.9 GHz Kryo) processor. This super-fast and efficient SoC can handle everything you want to process and handles the pixels of QHD display smoothly. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that is upgradeable with MicroSD card.
I tested high-end games like Asphalt 8 and Need for Speed No Limits, and they ran smoothly. I’ve also played games like Color Fidget Spinner Switch, and WireLine and Nokia 8 performed very well.
Nokia 8 – Battery life
The battery of Nokia 8 is modest 3,090mAh so I thought it would not last long with its 2K resolution screen while providing top-end performance but surprisingly it did well. It will last a full day even under more massive usage.
Nokia also added USB type-C port that helps you to charge the phone faster. It is not as faster as other flagship devices are but still, it was at 86% form 5% in an hour of charge, and that’s 1.35% per minute which is not bad at all.
Nokia should’ve included wireless charging it adds higher value, and as they are learning, so I am expecting to see wireless charging for their next flagship device.
Nokia 8 – Camera
HMD Global focused on Nokia 8’s camera, and there is no wonder it has an impressive dual camera setup with 13MP monochrome and 13MP RGB sensor one catching the details and other depth.
Its dual 13-megapixel camera setup is capable of taking well-balanced pictures, and it’s a considerable the very best in such price range. However, if we compare the images taken through Nokia 8’s Zeiss optic lens with Galaxy S8 or iPhone 7, its pictures did not appear to be crispy enough.
Its 13MP front-facing selfie shooter will provide you nice sharp selfies. The famous Boothie mode of Nokia 8 is also an impressive and useful feature (it may not get hype as selfie but still it is useful). Let’s have a look at the samples I captured using Nokia 8.
Nokia 8 – Software
The software Nokia 8 is running on is Android 7.1.1 Nougat which is upgradeable to Android 8.0 Oreo. The issues found in earlier version of software are fixed in the last update, so there is nothing to worry about. Its menu is designed quite similar to the one I see in Google Pixel devices.
You get a drag-down notification menu and multitasking menu right where they should be, and there is also untouched white app tray available through upward drag from the bottom of the homescreen.
Overall it had a generic android design and Nokia set an example by not pushing its Email and other apps in software and made it simple. It has quite a simple User Interface.
