Nokia has analyzed the digital AI assistant space with a service called Viki.
The details come from a European trademark application by Nokia Solutions and Networks Oy which represent Viki as:
“software for the creation and monitoring of mobile and web digital assistants working with knowledge and combining all data sources into a single chat and voice based interface.”
Speaking to Engadget’s Jon Fingas, a Nokia representative said:
“Nokia registers trademarks from time to time but we don’t comment on how, whether or when they may be used for Nokia products or services.”
while the beginning of voice-powered digital assistants is attached massively to smartphones, there is no evidence that Viki performs to make an impression on a device in the future. The newly announced Nokia 6 should bring the name of the Finnish company, but that name is already authorized to HMD.
So that indication HMD should properly have the opportunity to use Viki in its devices if it wants (and if Nokia is open to licensing the software to the hardware-focused start-up).
The contest for command of the operating system in the mobile world is efficiently over – Apple has finally surrounded its wagons strongly around iOS while most of using Google’s flavor of Android OS with an inexperienced team with Windows 10.
