Recently OnePlus 6 was spotted having a display flickering issue for some users after updating to OxygenOS 5.1.8.

When the adaptive brightness mode is enabled and the phone goes in the bright sunlight than you will face the issue.

Initially, the company was silent about the issue, it has now acknowledged and confirmed a fix will be coming through the next over-the-air update, the company hasn’t revealed any particular schedule but “very soon” is mentioned on the official forum post.

OnePlus Wrote:

“We have noticed feedback from the user regarding the adaptive brightness feature, it will be optimized in the next OTA update. “

The bug mainly surfaces when the phone goes to 100 percent brightness through the built-in adaptive brightness mode, one of the affected users found that clearing cache helps temporarily and some found the third-party Lux works fine.

Many users also complained about battery drain issues after updating to OxygenOS 5.1.8 so company bought OxygenOS 5.1.9 with a Sleep Standby Optimization Feature to enhance the battery life but didn’t fix the display issue.

OnePlus hasn’t revealed any date for the fix, but you can manually check in the Settings.
