Not much details are shared however, the app could be similar to Apple’s AirDrop that allows to transfer files between Apple devices through Wi-Fi connections.

How this new app will work

It is not like we don’t  have any AirDrop alternative earlier; Android had Android Beam which uses NFC file transfer. However, according to reports it is going to be removed in Android Q.

Xiaomi said it is not a protocol solely for their phones but other phone manufacturers are also welcome to adopt it. As far as the release date is concerned the app’s beta version will be available by the end of August.
