Google is bringing its Demo Day event to Asia for the first time this September and now the search giant has opened applications for startups wanting to take part.
Google is bringing its Demo Day event to Asia for the first time and it is going to take place in Shanghai, China this September. This year, Google’s mission to bring together top startups to highlight innovation and drive investment has now arrived in Asia as well.
What is Google’s Demo Day?
Google’s Demo Day is akin to a short version of an early-stage startup program, as the name suggests it is a Demo Day without months-long program leading to it. The tech giant identifies promising companies and it works with them ahead of the demo day to give mentoring, coaching and perfect pitch that is delivered to VCs and others from Google’s Entrepreneurship network who attend the demo day.
A team from Google will shortlist startup based on their team’s strength, execution of their idea, traction of customers and their growth potential to scale. The startup can not only apply themselves but can also be nominated by located partners within the network of Google for Entrepreneurs. Currently, The Nest I/O is a partner within their network from Pakistan.
Requirements to Qualify
In order to qualify for Google Demo Day, the startup should be legally incorporated and headquartered in Asia. They should have gone through fundraising, revenue generation, and customer growth. Moreover, these startups should have raised $50,000 and must be seeking to actively raise $1 million to $5 million within next six month of Demo Day.
What are the Benefits?
Aside from working closely with Google and earnings Google Cloud credits, Google says its events help get startups connected and raise capital. To that end, it says that startups which have pitched at Demo Days have raised a cumulative $259 million from investors.
