If you did not hear that the electronic media watchdog, PEMRA has banned Indian DTH services in Pakistan. Apparently, it is now illegal to have Indian DTH services in Pakistan and if anyone is found selling or using Indian DTH services will be punished or fined according to the Law.
15 October 2016 is last day of Indian DTH service in Pakistan.
PEMRA has now specified how harsh the punishment for those using Indian DTH for commercial and personal purposes will be. The electronic media watchdog will:
PEMRA has released the punishment criteria for the users who have been using Indian DTH services for commercial and noncommercial use, which are as follows:
- Slap a Fine of up to Rs. 10 Million
- Send the offender to jail for up to 4 years
Previously, PEMRA has outlawed the sales and use of Indian DTH services, PEMRA did not mention the specific details about the punishment. However, PEMRA has taken this step to make Public more aware of the Illegality of having Indian dish in order to get Superior quality channels. PEMRA is also in contact with Federal and provincial governments to help in halting the use of Indian DTH.
It is necessary to add here that Pakistan is losing Million of dollar because of lack of certified and authorized DTH services in Pakistan. DTH service is launched to fulfill a need of use for sometimes. It is hoped that Pakistani government and private sector will help each other to help in halting the use of Indian DTH service.
