Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority(PEMRA) has pointed out the TV advertisements of Zong 4G and OPPO Mobile as these ads have crossed some of the Cultural limits.
According to the aspects, these TV ads have surpassed Pakistan’s cultural limits and they are also not acceptable in our local norms. Such ads have also been rejected by the members of the society.
According to the situation in Zong’s AD, a song name “Boom Boom” has been played and a male model was being hit by a cricket ball in between the legs. According to OPPO’s Ad, the company has recorded shots of a model wearing improper clothes.
According to PEMRA, it has received a lot of grievance about these ads from users and after which, the organization itself checked these ads and found them offensive.
After which PEMRA contacts Pakistan Broadcasters Association and discussed the problem and asked them to put the TV ads when the objectionable part is being removed from the original one or abandon the ads entirely.
The media authority has then warned the companies and gave them 2 days for fixing the ads, otherwise, according to the local laws, they will be banned.
