Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 is an Impressively Improved SoC for Affordable Phones

Qualcomm introduced its Snapdragon 710 Mobile Chipset and it is first SoC from 700 series. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 is from a family of silicon designed chipsets to provide more affordable devices while providing nearly same performance as those who feature high-end chipsets. It is developed using a 10nm process and includes things like neural network processing along with a multi-core AI engine.

Smartphone with Snapdragon 710 will have features that are seen in premium and expensive smartphones with high-end. This new chipset will also greatly improve Artificial Intelligence compared to Snapdragon 660 SoC which Qualcomm announced in its new series.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 – Specifications & Features

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset consists of two high-performance custom Kryo 360 cores which are running at 2.20GHz and tackle more heavier tasks. There are other six Kryo 360 cores running at 1.70GHz and perform general tasks like web browsing and media consumption. There is an Adreno 616 GPU in Snapdragon 710 and it is based on ARM Cortex-based Kryo 360 architecture that offers 20 percent improved performance and 25 percent faster browsing and application launching is 15% faster compared to the previous generation.

AI-based applications will also run quickly and efficiently. The Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform consume 40 percent less power for 4K HDR video playback and also while playing high-end games. Not just that it also saves a lot of battery while streaming videos and Qualcomm’s through saving 20% less power, new Quick Charge 4+ technology will charge more than half of battery in just 15minutes.

Connectivity & ISP

It has Snapdragon X15 LTE Modem which supports Cat. 15 LTE speeds, with latest 4G LTE connectivity impressive improvements can be seen in this SoC. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 multicast audio that will provide support for wireless earbuds. The Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP has been integrated into this chip to allow users take pictures and videos like professional at professional quality.

The Vice President of product management at Qualcomm Technologies, Kedar Kondap said that the Snapdragon 710 Mobile Platform will provide features and technologies that were previously only offered by the more expensive chips. The new chip has been integrated with AI capabilities and this, coupled with performance enhancements, will transform the consumer experience for the future.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Chipset is available to OEMs and we can expect to see it in devices launching this quarter. Qualcomm also prepared a high-end chipset for its 700 series and named Snapdragon 730 and it is made using Samsung’s 8nm LPP architecture.
