Samsung is not pioneering when it comes to rolling out latest updates of Android for its devices. The South Korean giant has never been quick in seeding software updates for its devices. However, it now seems to be working on extending Oreo updates to many of its flagship including Galaxy S6 which was launched back in 2015.
Your Samsung Galaxy S6 Will Get Android 8.0 Oreo!
The recently started seeding Android 8.0 Oreo beta 3 for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. It is also confirmed that Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will get latest Android version soon. Today I read that Samsung Galaxy S6 will also be the one among those smartphones of Samsung who are getting Oreo update.
CyberConCoder, a Reddit user, talked with four different Samsung support agents and all of them confirmed about Oreo update for Galaxy S6. He also attached screenshots of conversations of each chat where support agent is confirming the Oreo update for Galaxy S6. One of those agents also stated that his supervisor had confirmed the details.
We still have no idea when the update will arrive on the phone. Besides, Samsung is currently testing the beta for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7+ phones, that’s why there is no timeline for Oreo update on Galaxy S6.
We also rejoiced that Samsung is extending Oreo update to S6 which was launched three years ago. Samsung is not well known for supporting its devices older than two years. Maybe it is part of company’s strategy to attract more buyers for its flagships.
