Samsung announces what caused the Galaxy Note 7 to overheat and explode

What went wrong

The first problem affected the first batch of Note 7 phones which were launched last fall, the battery of Note 7 was too large for causing of the phone, which caused overheating issues, according to Note 7 report.

After the first batch was recalled, Samsung manufactured Note 7 with batteries of the new supplier but in a rush to get a new smartphone to market the didn’t test it properly and a new battery produced by supplier had a defect which also caused overheat issue.

In the end, Samsung ended up recalling all Note 7 phones and canceled the product altogether.

Samsung says it has developed a new eight-point battery check to make sure future devices don’t suffer the same fate as the Galaxy Note 7. The test includes an X-ray of the phone and extreme testing conditions that force the battery to work harder than normal.
