One of the popular social media, Snap Inc., makers of Sapchat, is now refusing that its CEO, Evan Spiegel said that Snapchat is “only for rich people” and he doesn’t “want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain.”
Snap is quoting a word “ridiculous” as originated from a recent court complaint made by Anthony Pompliano, who provided his services to the company as a growth lead for few weeks in 2015.
In the objection, he reported about the exchange from a September 2015 meeting he had with Spiegel about international growth plans of the app.
There is an increase in success of the app when Variety and other outlets highlighted the alleged quote from Spiegel last week. A stream of social media posts and one-star reviews in Google and Apple’s app stores highlights several users asserting their criticism.
Snap spokesperson said:
“This is ridiculous,”Obviously, Snapchat is for everyone! It’s available worldwide to download for free. Those words were written by a disgruntled former employee. We are grateful for our Snapchat community in India and around the world.”
