Starcraft Remastered Announced by Blizzard – Due This Summer with 4K Support

There were rumors of Starcraft remastered which turned out to be true when earlier today Blizzard Entertainment made the announcement.

Starcraft Remastered will out in this Summer for Windows and Mac PCs and it will offer full graphical overhaul of beloved classic with high-resolution models of buildings, doodads, and tilesets as well as support for widescreen resolution up to 4K while most part of gameplay will remain untouched.

Blizzard’s CEO and Co-Founder Michael Morhaime said:

StarCraft is a pure distillation of Blizzard’s DNA—its story, its balance, and all the little details reflect our long-running commitment to epic entertainment, and it’s been a staple in competitive gaming and esports for almost 20 years. With StarCraft Remastered, we’re modernizing the original game’s visuals, audio, and online support to ensure that players can enjoy StarCraft for another 20 years and beyond.

The developers are also promising improved game audio (both soundtrack and dialogue); new comic-book style illustrations to enhance storytelling in the StarCraft and StarCraft:

Brood War campaign missions as well as improved original cinematics to 1080p resolution; advanced matchmaking; full connectivity to Blizzard’s gaming network for social features and updates; cloud saving for campaign progress, custom maps, replays, and keybindings; support for eight new languages in addition to the original five ones (English, German, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish (LatAm and European), Polish, Italian, Russian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese).
