In Personal computers, Memory is the area having limited speed. The speed of the memory depends on the speed of switching of memory cells, presently, which is done by using an external magnetic field. Scientists from Europe and Russia have suggested the new method of using more Rapid Terahertz radiation (T-rays) which are also used at airports for body scanning in body scanners. These ScientistS have published their research in the Journal Nature, In the research, they describe that by swapping out magnetic fields with T-rays, could be able to handle the rate of the cell resetting process by a factor of 1000, which in return will be able to produce ultrafast memory.
The radiations in actual terms is a series of electromagnetic pulses ringing the cells at terahertz frequencies, As from the scientist’s research, these frequencies have a wavelength about 0.1 mm, prevailing between Infrared and Microwave lights. All the experiments on T-rays have been taken quickly with accurate organic and mechanical material’s inspections.
However, You won’t be able to see T-rays on your PCs as you see in Hypothetical applications. The scientists have implemented the experiment on the Weak ferromagnet, thulium orthoferrite (TmFeO₃) and have been successful in applying this concept. They have also found that the effect of T-rays is 10 times greater than the effect of traditional magnetic field, which means that this method is very fast and even more efficient than the traditional one. However, the scientists are taking their time to apply this concept to the memory cells of the computer. Obviously, it is not known that when or if T-rays will be introduced into the PCs.
