Unified Push Notifications to rollout soon by Huawei, OPPO, OnePlus and Realme

Android Unified Push Alliance announced its progress confirmation from brands like Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Guangdong Opal Mobile Communications Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Wanpras Technology Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Rui Er Mobile Communications Co., Ltd about the development work. The latest alliance standard “T-UPA0002-2019 unified push interface layer specification” that means unified push service on all of their phones.

Push notifications are an essential factor in not just in Android devices but also iOS. However, these Chinese manufacturers provide their notification systems through custom ROM instead of Google’s push notification service. Push notification can impact device performance for sure because it is running in the background.

Unified Push Notifications by Major Brands to Roll Out Soon

The Ministry of Information Technology of China has formed the Unified Push Alliance to fix the issue through the unification of push notification across all devices. The list of companies working under the Unified Push Alliance is vast, with 74 members other than the ones mentioned above. The remaining names include Xiaomi, Qihoo 360, Alibaba, JD.com, and more.

“The unified push notification will allow handsets to receive push messages without waking up the apps and will improve overall user experience on Android phones. This system will consume a lot less memory and power and will be efficient.”, reported by GizmoChina

Huawei, along with its sub-brand Honor, already implemented unified push in its upcoming EMUI 10. So, devices eligible to get the update of EMUI 10 will take advantage of the latest push notification feature. Oppo also committed to bring a new system of notification in its ColorOS 3.0 and above. By the end of 2019 Oppo is expected to bring this service to 93 percent of its devices starting from high-end ones.

Realme subsidiary of Oppo is also taking its chances along with OnePlus to provide support for unified push service. Other significant brands, including Xiaomi, Vivo, and IQOO, will even rollout UPS (Unified Push Service) in their next software updates.
