WD’s first super-fast Black PCIe solid-state drive jumps ahead to the new normal at CES

WD declared today at CES 2017 fro the launching of its new WD Black PCIe solid-state drive, it is the first WD-branded PCIe SSD since the company procured SanDisk in 2016.

WD tells that the new drive supports the PCTe Gen3 x4 NVMe standard and have the highest read speed up to 2,050MBps and write speed up to 800MBps, too much faster than the SATA SSD, that was declared by WD Blue in the last year 2016.

This drive also provides M.2 slot, which is the newly upcoming interface standard that will completely replace the SATA in future.Most of the laptops and new desktop motherboards have an M.2 slot built in.Some desktops also upgrade the PCIe card.

WD says the WD Black PCIe SSDs will be available in 256GB and 512GB capacities in the first half of 2017 at a suggested price of $109 and $200, respectively. That converts to about £90 and £160 or AU$150 and AU$275. The drive will carry a five-year warranty
