WhatsApp has recently updated its app and has introduced the Snapchat-like feature. The update contains a new WhatsApp status tab for sharing videos, GIFs, and photos for a limited time of 24 hours.
Users are allowed to add emojis, text, and doodle into the media and can send them in all their groups and groups accordingly.
Last year in November, the company has initiated testing of a feature in its beta app and now after a couple of months, the company satisfied and rolled it earlier this week. Similar to the Whatsapp messaging, this feature also ends to end encrypted.
As you all know, Whatsapp is owned by Facebook, which is following the snap chat and introducing the Snapchat features to make it more effective. In the past, the company introduced features like stories, photo and video sharing on Instagram.
Apparently, the company is also testing Messenger Days to be introduced in its Messenger app. In fact, the company also desired to buy Snapchat for $3 billion but Snapchat refused.
WhatsApp CEO and co-founder, Jan Koum, said:
“Starting today, we are rolling out an update to status, which allows you to share photos and videos with your friends and contacts on WhatsApp in an easy and secure way … Just like eight years ago when we first started WhatsApp, this new and improved status feature will let you keep your friends who use WhatsApp easily updated in a fun and simple way. From all of us at WhatsApp, we hope you enjoy it!”
