World’s largest SSD capacity now stands at 100TB

Almost a month ago, Samsung has introduced a record-setting 30TB SSD and now one of the rivals has claimed to introduce an SSD having more size as compared to the one designed by Samsung.

Nimbus Data has introduced an ExaDrive DC100, which has the ability to store over 100TB of 3D flash memory into a 3.5inch SATA form factor.

For example, A user can be able to store over 20 million songs with an average size of 5MB and this device is small enough to fit into your home PC.

You might be thinking that the company has aimed this device for servers where the size matter over everything else including the performance.

A single data center could have the capability to hold 100 petabytes of data in a single rack instead of having a large size of servers in the server room space.

This is really helpful for the cloud services, AI, and all other technologies may need this massive amount of data space to work with.

Of course, the price tag of DC 100 will be interesting to see as compared to other busiesses grade SSDs on per terabyte basis.

Which means that the expected price of this device will be in tens of thousands of dollars and it is enough to give a pause to the large businesses.

And, the drive should be trustworthy as well as it is worth thousands of dollars expensive and unfortunatley, if one of them goes bad can result in huge loss.
