The Mi 12, Mi 12 Pro, and Mi 12X are the three members of Xiaomi’s latest flagship family that have been released so far, and all of them are currently on the market. Xiaomi’s smartphone lineup is expected to expand in the future, with models such as the much-rumored Xiaomi 12 Ultra and another model that may become official before that: the Xiaomi 12 Lite, among others.
Obviously, this would be the successor to last year’s Mi 11 Lite 5G and Mi 11 Lite 5G NE smartphones, with only minor differences. In the gallery below, you can see some previously leaked renders of the Xiaomi 12. The design resembles that of the Xiaomi 12, and the screen is curved.
Xiaomi 12 Lite Specifications and features
According to an additional leak published today, the 6.55″ FHD+ AMOLED panel will also have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which is an improvement over the 90 Hz of the panel on the 11 Lite 5G NE. The battery capacity has also been increased; it is now 4,500 mAh with 67W fast charging, up from 4,250 mAh with 33W support on previous models.
Everything else about the Xiaomi 12 Lite is nearly identical to the previous-generation Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, including the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset, 6/8GB of RAM, 128/256GB of storage variants, phone will come with a 64 MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 5 MP macro camera.
For some reason, Xiaomi has chosen a 16-megapixel front-facing camera instead of the 20-megapixel sensor found in the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE or the 32-megapixel sensor found in the Xiaomi 12X. This is a potential downgrade from the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE’s 20-megapixel sensor and the Xiaomi 12X’s 32-megapixel sensor.
In contrast to previous models, the fingerprint sensor will be located beneath the display rather than on the device’s side, which may be regarded as an upgrade or a downgrade depending on your personal preferences. In contrast to expectations, the 12 Lite’s selfie camera has a resolution of 16 MP, down from 20 MP on the previous model. According to reports, the Xiaomi 12 Lite will ship with Android 12 on top of MIUI 13, which is a welcome surprise.
