Xiaomi Mi 8 is officially announced with Snapdragon 845 On Board And 3D Face Unlock

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is officially announced at the 8th anniversary celebration of the Chinese company, confirming most of the rumors.

The device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, dual camera and Dual GPS, and of course the Mi 8 adopted controversial notch design.

There is another version of the Mi 8, called Explore Edition, it has under screen scanner and a see through back panel that gives a sight to the internal of the device.

CEO Lei Jun introduced the Xiaomi Mi 8 with dual camera configuration with primary sensor IMX363 by Sony of 12MP with f/1.8, 1.4µm and secondary is S5K3M3 by Samsung of 12MP with f/2.4, 1.0 µm, the secondary camera act as a telephoto cam. The camera bought enhancement to AI features for 200 scenes and does 4-in-1-pixel binning for better low-light shots

According to the CEO the device reached a 99 points overall rating by Dx-O-Mark which is more than 97 score of Mi Max 2s and the iPhone X.

The photo category was rated at 105, just because of the new technology allowing shooting in extremely low lights environments. It also has AI-enhanced portrait photography.

The selfie camera is 20MP with f/2.0 aperture and also give the AI hype train with AI portrait selfies and AI Beautify, this selfie camera is not used for the face detection but the face detection sensor is sperate.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 845, and scored 301,472 on Antutu, which is believe to be highest ever on the Chinese benchmark platform.

The phone is 6.21 inches tall and uses a AMOLED panel by Samsung with 18.7:9 ration and Full HD+ 2248 x 1080 pixels resolution. Notch design and the cut out is used for an infrared solution for 3D Face unlock that works in dark.

The 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C type connection is supporting this phone.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is likely to be the first smartphone with Dual GPS. The phone binds the traditional L1 frequency, used mostly be aeronautical industry, this make locations based services like navigation more precise.

There will be three memory version of this phone 6GB RAM / 64GB internal storage which will cost you between $421, 6GB RAM / 128 GB internal storage which will cost you between $468 and the most expensive 6GB RAM / 256GB internal storage which will cost you between $514.

While the Explore Edition will have only one variant with 8GB/128GB and will cost $539.
