Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4: Which is the better foldable smartphone? In this Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 specs comparison, we look at which of these two foldable smartphones offers the better overall package.
Lately, foldable smartphones have advanced to the point where they potentially replace your primary mobile device. The previous models had flaws, such as a crease in the internal screen, fewer sturdy parts, and no IP certification.
However, as of just this moment, that has changed. Current market leaders in folding smartphone innovation include the Galaxy Z Fold4, announced recently, and the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, released earlier this year. Given that the two companies terminated their respective versions of the two models at around the same time, a comparison between them is warranted.

Design
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 fold inward when opened. This means both phones have displays. The first display folds like a huge tablet, and the second is an external display that may be used when the tablet is folded.
Because of their similar designs, we may compare the two foldables.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is more rounded and curved than Galaxy Z Fold3. Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 sports a boxier look, like the Galaxy Note series. Samsung’s foldable phones come in burgundy and graygreen in addition to black and gold for Xiaomi. Given their prices, both phones feel high-end and smart.
Outside design of the camera modules is another change. The Xiaomi foldable includes a rectangle camera module with three cameras, but the Galaxy foldable has a vertical one. The Galaxy tablet folds. Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is more balanced and symmetrical than its Galaxy competitor.
Xiaomi’s variant is thinner in tablet mode at 5.4 millimetres (vs 6.3mm on the Galaxy Fold 4). Even folded, it’s 11.2 mm thinner than the Galaxy model (vs 14mm).
The Xiaomi model is bigger than the Samsung model because both of its displays are larger. It doesn’t allow styluses like the Samsung model, which is a significant disadvantage.
There is no apparent victor because both foldables are well-made and paper.
Programs and Specifications
In terms of hardware, the two foldable are nearly identical. Both models include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 CPU, which has a clock speed of 3.2 GHz and is widely regarded as the best smartphone chipset available for Android phones in 2022. Both models are available with up to 1 terabyte (TB) of storage and up to 12 gigabytes (GB) of random access memory (RAM), so they will never be short on power, whether utilized for intensive application processing or intense gaming. Juggling several duties should be a piece of cake.
However, the two phones should have fundamentally distinct software apps loaded. The Xiaomi model comes with MIUI Fold 13, an Android 12-based operating system. This is quite similar to the operating system that runs on the company’s smartphones, with a few changes made to meet the foldable form factor (such as adding multitasking).
The Galaxy Z Fold4, on the other hand, features an operating system developed explicitly with large displays, giving it an advantage. It ships with the Android 12L operating system and OneUI 4.1.1 on top. This includes tablet-specific features such as Samsung Flex, which considerably improves the experience.
While both phones have the equivalent processing power, Samsung excels in the software sector due to the company’s vast prior experience dealing with foldable devices. As a result of its development, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has an advantage in this area.
Camera
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 features a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera with OIS, a 10MP 3x telephoto zoom camera with OIS, and a 12MP ultra wide-angle camera with 123 fields of view. A 4MP f/1.8 selfie camera is located beneath the display. The Samsung variant includes an additional 10MP selfie camera on its cover display.
The Xiaomi Mix Fold2 features a 50MP f/1.8 OIS primary camera, an 8MP 2x telephoto lens, and a 13MP 123 ultra-wide camera. 20MP front-facing camera
Both models have cameras that are similar to the flagships of 2022. 8K video recording is possible.
Battery
Even in 2022, foldable smartphones are not equipped with robust batteries. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 features a battery with a capacity of 4500mAh and a charging power of 67W, which are both about average for smartphones. The Galaxy Z Fold4 is an option that features a battery with a capacity of 4400 mAh and can be charged using 25W.
The Galaxy foldable, in contrast to the type offered by Xiaomi, allows wireless and reverse wireless charging at the same 15W output as its predecessor.
Price
Galaxy Z Fold4 costs $1,799.99/£1,649/€1,799 internationally. Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold 2 costs 8,999 yuan ($1,335) in China.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 is one of 2022’s top foldable. The phone is expensive compared to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. The hardware is similar, however, the Samsung model has better software.
If Xiaomi produces the foldable cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold4, the market will be more exciting in the following weeks.
