Android skins have historically been a chaotic landscape of neon icons, redundant menus, and aggressive battery management. But OPPO is trying to change that narrative. The Chinese smartphone giant has officially begun the global rollout of ColorOS 7, its latest operating system based on Android 10, and the focus is squarely on something the company calls “Infinite Design.”

In plain English? They are decluttering.

After a beta phase that involved over 92,000 testers globally—and thousands of subsequent revisions—the official build is hitting handsets now. The goal is to reduce the visual fatigue that comes with staring at complex UIs all day. The interface is lighter, the icons are customizable, and the system-wide interaction is designed to be, in OPPO’s words, “smooth and delightful.”

The Feature Drop

Beyond the minimalist facelift, ColorOS 7 leans heavily into the digital wellbeing and creator tools that have become standard necessities in the modern flagship experience:

  • Focus Mode: A nod to the disconnect-to-reconnect movement, this feature helps you silence the digital noise by blocking distracting apps for set intervals.

  • Soloop: A native, smart video editor designed for the TikTok and Instagram Stories generation, allowing for rapid cutting and sharing without needing third-party software.

  • Three-Finger Screenshot: A refined gesture control that aims to make capturing and scrolling through long web pages less of a thumb-gymnastic exercise.

Because the backbone is Android 10, users also get the benefit of Google’s enhanced privacy controls—offering more granular permission settings—and system-level performance boosts. Bobby Zhao, CEO of OPPO Nepal, noted that the R&D team “takes user feedback very seriously,” implying that this update is a direct response to the community asking for a cleaner, faster experience.

The Rollout Roadmap

If you are holding an OPPO device, here is the timeline for when the new software hits your notification tray.

Available Now: The update is already live for the heavy hitters—the flagship Find X series (including the Lamborghini and SuperVooc editions) and the Reno lineup (Reno 10X Zoom, Reno 2, and R17 Pro).

Phase 1: June The rollout expands to the mid-range workhorses this month:

  • F Series: F9, F9 Pro, F7, F7 128G

  • A Series: A5 2020, A9 2020

Phase 2: July

  • A Series: A91

With over 350 million active users across 140 countries, this isn’t just a minor patch; it’s a massive interface overhaul for a significant chunk of the global Android market.
